“Have you ever thought about renting out your barn for weddings and events as one of Tulsa wedding venues?” We had this questions posed to us many times over the years, but we didn’t start giving it any real thought until we hosted our friend’s daughter’s wedding in May of 2015. Now approximately a year and half later with a newly renovated barn and wedding arbor, we are a full-fledged wedding and event venue and we absolutely love it! Check us out on Wedding Wire as one of Tulsa wedding venues! But that isn’t the beginning of our story, that is actually our fairy tale ending!
Moving to the Country
My name is Alisa Jones and my husband Jake Jones and I decided to make a big change in our lives by moving to the country on a beautiful piece of property a little west of Tulsa, Oklahoma in the summer of 2002. Honestly, our land has some of the most beautiful views around! It was natural for us to dive right into the country life and we quickly made it our own.
We were typical “newbies” in the country who wanted to do it all and quickly acquired everything from dogs and cats to horses and cows. Most all of our horses were unbroken and untrained. It’s a wonder we all survived with no broken bones! We pretty much adopted the practice of just grab hair and ride and you’re doing good! Downsizing our animals was a must so our animals basically have to have a purpose now or they don’t get to stay!
Country Mama
We taught our girls the basics of everything country and they grew up experiencing and learning a lot about life. They can shoot guns with the best of them, hunt ducks and deer, drive tractors, and load hay. Since we had three girls (and no boys) we adopted a family motto. “Girls can do everything boys can do, they just look better doing it!” I also homeschooled them all so I was a busy, country mama! All my girls are grown up now and either going to college or have already branched out on their own. It goes by quickly moms so enjoy your time with your babies!
My Man
Though we live in the country in Oklahoma and I was a homeschool mom, I am not married to the Marlboro man! (Shout out to the Pioneer Woman, Rhea Drummond!) My husband is more of a cross between John Wayne and the Duck Commander! He is a funny guy too so he keeps us all Happy, Happy, Happy! Besides being a rancher (we raise all natural beef cattle called JCross Natural Beef) he is also a minister and is owner of Christian publisher, HonorNet Publishing. His passion is missions and just being “Jesus” to everyone he meets.
We have always opened up our home and land to people over the years so renting out our barn for weddings and events came naturally. With the barn and arbor and scenic views and ponds, it is the perfect place for weddings and events. We count it a blessing and an honor to be a part of every couples’ special day. It’s so much fun to see the plans the brides have unfold into reality on their wedding day! We love weddings and are excited to be one of Tulsa wedding venues. We had our fairy tale ending, and now we want everyone else to have theirs too!
